Power, Resistance & the Stage

Researching contemporary British drama, masculinities, and adaptation through questions of power, ethical–aesthetic resistance, and theatrical form.

01 / Academic profile

About

Zeliha Kuruducu is a Lecturer (PhD) at the School of Foreign Languages of a state university in Türkiye and a researcher in English Language and Literature. She holds a PhD in English Language and Literature, and her research spans masculinity studies, contemporary British drama, and adaptation studies.

Her research explores how power shapes gender, subjectivity, and cultural representation—and how literary, dramatic, and cinematic forms create possibilities for ethical–aesthetic resistance. Drawing on post-Foucauldian approaches to power, biopolitics, and resistance, she examines the relationships between authority, violence, agency, and dramatic form.

Her work in adaptation studies focuses on literary and dramatic texts reimagined for stage and screen, bringing classical reception into dialogue with contemporary adaptations. She is particularly interested in ontological transformation: how adaptations reshape the conditions of existence, agency, and belonging within the worlds they create.

Alongside her teaching and research, Zeliha Kuruducu serves as Regional Managing Editor – Turkey at The Theatre Times.
